MorePlatz office-Vendu Notarishuis interior design-Rotterdam

The aim of this project is renovating the interior design of an auction house in Rotterdam. We are still busy with the design and developing ideas and I will update this post later.

As I pointed before in this project we are renovating the interior of the auction house and designing all the furnitures. The photomontage is representing the entrance hall of the auction house which will be covered by perforated metal sheets with  custom made patterns. Due to the client’s request, I am not allowed to share high level plans.

L'objectif de ce projet est la rénovation de l'aménagement intérieur d'une maison d'actionnerie à Rotterdam. Nous sommes toujours occupés avec la conception et le développement des idées et je mettrai à jour ce post plus tard.

 Vowwww!
This project is my first professional experience in the Netherlands with morePlatz office in Rotterdam. I was quite fortunate to find this opportunity during this hectic time.  It is a competition of a urban design of 14000m2 residential complex. We have done our best and now we are waiting for the result of the competition. Finger crossed.
During this project I learned two new softwares: Cinema4D and VectorWorks.

EPFL-Research-Tranquility elements in middle eastern architecture

During the master program in EPFL we have to work on the theoretical and practical thesis. Based on my interest, I did a research on tranquility and calmness elements in the vernacular persian architect. Well, before this research, mostly I had modern and digital design experience and passed few related studio in the school. To me it was a very valuable experience since this research gave me another direction and understanding of the architecture. I'd love to use what I have learned in this research in my future designs and projects. The research results is published as a booklet in French you can download it via the below link. If you have problem with downloading this file, please feel free to contact me. And last but not least, let me know your comments about it !

EPFL-Thesis Project-Persian cultural center, persian garden in RAK city-Emmirates

This project is about a Persian cultural centre with Persian gardens. The supervisor of my thesis is professor Jeffrey Huang. The site is located in RAK city (Ras-Al-Khaymah) in United Arabs Emirates. It is located by the sea in a residential district with a warm and humid climate. Its area is about 7000 m2. The site will be a centre for cultural activities and leisures for the inhabitants of that district. The architecture is aimed to create tranquility. Persian vernacular architecture is analyzed and used as the inspirational source to form tranquility in the whole project. Interior courtyard, screen, wind tower and persian garden are used as elements to create tranquility. Courtyards are calm and refreshing areas of the house. Screens have colorful designs and create nice patterns of light and shadow. Wind towers bring fresh air inside the buildings and operate as zero consumption air system. Garden brings happiness and tranquility by beautiful flowers, water stream and shadow of trees. The location of the site at the seaside is another important to reach to tranquility.   If you are more interested in this project you can find my detail analysis from the below link:

Bazaar-Shiraz

This project was in Iran and the site was located in Shiraz. Shiraz is a historical-touristic city in the southern part of Iran. In the heart of the old city of Shiraz there are two mausoleums from the IXth century 1km apart from each other which is the connecting route for pilgrims and other visitors and civilians. There were old houses in this area which have been evacuated twenty years ago and after a while it has become ruins. This project is aimed at finding an architectural solution to change the current situation and to bring back life there. ‘Bazaar’ is the proposed solution, which brings activity and added value to this part of the city of Shiraz but it is a new approach to the traditional architecture of bazaar in Iran.
Bazaar is a network of routes which are called ‘rasteh’.  Each rasteh is a long, narrow and labyrinthine route with many shops on each side. At the crossing point of rastehs there is a spacious area called ‘Souk’. If someone walks down a rasteh, he may reach to a bright extension.  This light is coming from an interior courtyard of bazaar called ‘saraa’. Such a saraa is surrounded by shops and offices from the same kind. There are several saraas in a bazaar with different sizes. Some saraas have a green areas and fountains in the center.
In this project, the traditional elements of Iranian bazaar are combined in an organic form of a plant named branching method.  The main branch or rasteh connects the the form was done wo mausoleums while the alleys of the surrounding districts are connected to the sub-branches. The structure of tby the modular structure by concrete.

EPFL-Thickness

The project was done by a group of three person.( Olivier Dalang, Youri Kravtchenko and me) The idea was to create a form and a use.. area by using the thickness. By choosing a module which is an hexagon we started to do deformation and scale and rotation and aggregate them together.
Three project was considered to do three different programs by thickness of hexagons: Phon cabin, Thermal bath, Roof
In the locations that you have to walk or seat there are some hexagones modules with a flat side or sides.
The general form was became from an organic and natural form which is sponge.
All of these three projects have the capacity to place everywhere.
The physical model is a sectional form of phone cabin which has two meters of hight and done by 90 different modules drawn in computer program by Rhino and Grashopper and with polyplopyren as material.

EPFL-Tower in Hong-Kong

The project is a Tower in kai-Taki port of Hong-Kong. The tower is a multifunctional tower including apartments, hotel, cruise terminal, shopping center, offices, galleries and restaurants.
The final project is four towers which were connected by a double skin and covered by a third skin. The base design of tower is a module by two square which is became a star. This star was rotated and scaled to construct each floor. In all the four towers the dimension of star is different but from the first floor to the last one it became small and smaller. The rotation and scale give the opportunity to have a balcony on each floor and different views. Three of four towers have interior courtyard used as an interior garden, which was located depend on sun orientation.
To connect these four towers, three skins were used. The first and second skin create a connection area between towers also in higher floors and the third skin give a uniform Tower from these four towers. The skins were done by patterns which can give us a pretty light while passing the connection area between towers. The first and second towers has different patterns to give a pretty playing of light and shadows.

EPFL-Bridge in Simplon valley-Switzerland

The Bridge project is a project in Simplon mountains in Switzerland. The idea was to create a bridge by modules od wood material.
The site of the project was located in one of the valley of the mountain which has a stream and the bridge was the connected structure between these two parts. To do the bridge several little modules wear considered, between all of the modules one was chose  for studying on it. The chosen module had many capacity to do the deformation on it.
Some studies were done by deforming the base module, playing with light and shadow and a study of structure with this module.
The final project was a variation of several bridge, a bridge which has two or three floors for pedestrians, who can across on the bridge or in to the bridge and looking at the pretty playing of light and shadows of patterns. The structure of bridge was done by hinges which can connect these modules together.
